Requirement
- UK police forces have identified the increasing use of GNSS jammers by criminal gangs to prevent the tracking of stolen vehicles.
- Forsberg engaged by police to monitor GNSS spectrum for the presence of jamming on a busy UK motorway.
- Data to be logged and details of jamming events including time and signal strength to be recorded.
Solution
- Forsberg captured data from a bridge crossing the M3, 14m above the carriageway.
- An OEM7 receiver with Interference Toolkit (ITK) used to monitor the L1 and L2 radio frequency bands.
- Trial conducted over 11 hours during daytime and 22 separate jamming events identified.
- Further analysis showed 13 different jammers were encountered.
