The Lancaster Grand Prix, part of the British Cycling National Road Race Series 2024, is set to occur this weekend in Lancaster. The race will utilise the familiar circuit on the city’s outskirts and will implement a controlled rolling road closure managed by a professional traffic management company in conjunction with Police and NEG moto escort for the race convoy.
Forsberg, alongside fellow Electech Cluster Member OTAQ, have collaborated to provide technology for real-time tracking of rolling roadblocks in support vehicles, allowing race organisers to minimise disruptions caused by road closures for Lancaster residents.
OTAQ, world class manufacturer of marine technology located in Lancaster, have provided five Asset Tracking Units (ATUs), which Forsberg have fully integrated with Teleplan Globe’s NORA software solution to track and monitor the race. By establishing geofences along the primary cycling route, race officials can effectively coordinate with Police and race marshals to ensure a smooth and organised event.
This marks the first trial of GPS technology in the Lancaster Grand Prix, showcasing a commitment to innovation within British Cycling.
